I am deeply grieved to learn the sad demise of Shri B.R. Nanda founder Director, of the Nehru Memorial Museum & Library and a leading historian of modern India.

Shri B. R. Nanda’s contribution to academia and various aspects of Gandhian studies has contributed in an insightful and unique understanding of Mahatma Gandhi. His writings are a pointer to the continuing relevance of Gandhiji’s political and economic thought for India and the world.

My wife joins me in sending our heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and the wide circle of his admirers and his friends. We pray to the Almighty to grant them the strength and fortitude to withstand this loss.
